The University of Michigan Club of Grand Rapids will be honoring two current Grand Rapids area student-athletes and one former U-M student-athlete at this year's Golf Outing and Sports Banquet at Egypt Valley Country Club on Monday, May 22.
This year's co-recipients of the Senior Leader Award of the Grand Rapids Club are Wolverine swimmers Abby Seskevics of Grand Haven and Chris DeJong of Holland, while former U-M football great Julius Franks will also be honored with the Paul G. Goebel Sr. Distinguished Alumni in Athletics Award.
The current student club awards are presented each year to one or more graduating U-M senior students-athletes who are graduates of a West Michigan high school and whose academic and athletic accomplishments reflect highly of their character, perseverance, dedication, leadership, and commitment to and love of the University of Michigan
